Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
The short version: you write in the app, we keep a copy so it follows you to a new phone, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising. Your voice never leaves your phone. You can delete everything from Settings.
Who we are
The Quiet Time is made by Relay ("we", "us"). We decide how your data is used. You can reach us at marvin.asamoah.123@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account. You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive an identifier for your account and, if you allow it, your name and email address. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one.
- What you write. Journal entries, what you learnt, titles, notes on verses, the memory verses you carry, and your reading position. They are stored on your phone and, because you are signed in, copied to our servers so they are there on a new phone.
- How the mornings go. Which days you finished and how many recalls you passed.
- Your settings and device. Your wake-up time, snooze length, time zone, whether the phone is an iPhone or Android, and a device token. The token lets us start the morning on your lock screen or send the wake-up notification.
- Technical logs. Our server, and Cloudflare in front of it, see your IP address and details of each request. We use them to keep the service running and secure.
What we do not collect
- No advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools are built into the app. We do not sell your data.
- Your voice. When you say a verse aloud, it is turned into text on your phone. The audio is not recorded and is not sent to us or anyone else.
- Which apps you use. On iPhone, blocking other apps during the morning uses Apple's Screen Time controls. Apple does not tell us which apps you chose or use.
- Your contacts, photos and location.
Study notes and AI
When you open a chapter, our server may write study notes for it with an AI model from a provider (Anthropic, or Moonshot AI). What is sent is the text of the chapter and our instructions. We do not send your writing, your name or your email. The notes are saved so the same chapter is not written twice.
Why we use your data
To run the app: to sign you in, to keep your mornings in sync across phones, to wake you at the time you chose, and to keep the service secure. Where the law asks for a basis, that is our agreement with you to provide the app, our legitimate interest in keeping it working and safe, and your consent for notifications, which you can turn off in your phone's settings.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run the app, and only what they need:
- Hetzner Online GmbH hosts our servers and database.
- Cloudflare handles network traffic and security in front of our server.
- Apple and Google provide sign-in, and Apple delivers the wake-up push notifications to iPhones.
- The AI provider named above receives chapter text for study notes, nothing personal.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent your data.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Delete account in Settings erases your account and everything stored online, and clears the phone you did it on. Sign out clears that phone only; your copy stays in your account for when you sign back in.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Deleting your account in the app does the last of these immediately. For anything else, write to marvin.asamoah.123@gmail.com. If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care with what we hold.
Where your data is processed
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where that is the case we rely on the safeguards the law provides for.
Children
The Quiet Time is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
